Sorry it's taken me so long to review this game I didn't realize that it was going to be this long of game lol so here's my review:
Plot: The game opens with a prologue during the summer of 2049 during which it is, unusually, snowing. In a modern but dilapidated-looking city, a silver-haired man fends off attacks from ethereal monsters in and around a broken-down grocery store where he is sheltering with his sick daughter, Yonah. Having defeated the last of the monsters, he checks on Yonah, who has begun to cough much worse than before. The man then realizes that Yonah has activated the magical book they carried, against his wishes. Realising this may be fatal for her, he calls out for help, but to no avail.
The game then cuts to 1,312 years later, where the man, named Nier, and his daughter are now living in a thriving village lead by twins Devola and Popola, built upon the ruins of an old town and library; the human population has dwindled, and civilization has reverted to a much simpler form, congregating in villages and working together to protect themselves from the monsters, known to the people as "Shades". Fearing that his daughter's illness is terminal, Nier sets out to look for a cure. Nier Wiki
The plot is amazing now once you get past the first part of the game I am about 12 hours into it and level 18, and I can say that it's one of the best games I have bought for 12 dollars.
The Graphics are pretty freaking sweet and very well done

This is just a Google picture sorry for whoever I borrowed it from lol |
The characters have great dialogue and are actually pretty funny at times Kaine, and Grimoire Weiss are my favorites. Emil is ok, but his voice gets annoying lol.

The gameplay is a great mix between weapons and magic. Finding different words adds a lot more to the fighting.
 |
Here's a quick look at the magic spells |
The weapons are spears/two-handed/one-handed/ I'm using Fangs of Twins right now and it's a beastly two handed weapon that takes out huge amounts of shades at a time.
 |
I have way more weapons than this, but I just took a quick screenshot. |
All in all Nier is a fantastic game so far that should not be missed for 12 dollars if you can find it on ebay like I did you should buy it. Also tips on making my review better? This is my first one. :) Also remember to save often in Nier, it gets sort of annoying having to do certain parts over.

I'll edit it later, but right now it's 5/5 for me |

My roommate has been playing this game.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that it took you so long to write the review bodes well in my eyes. It means(1) you wanted to make sure you did it right and that future reviews will likely be of the same quality, and (2) the game is worth the price as it isn't quickly beaten!
